Overview

Fat Freddy's Drop have been busy touring Europe. They sold out Zitadelle (Berlin) and have played sets in Brussels, Copenhagen, Manchester and Glasgow, with a gig at the infamous O2 Academy Brixton (London) to round things off. If that wasn't enough to be keeping them occupied, they also have a new album in the works.

Soon, though, the boys will be back home in Aotearoa for their annual summer roady. Luckily for us, this instantiation of the Trickle Down tour will include a stop at Auckland's own Western Springs Stadium. As usual, Fat Freddy's are to be joined on the road by a number of guests, with psychedelic rock band Unknown Mortal Orchestra, and supporting acts Norman Jay MBE, Ladi6, Troy Kingi, Silva MC and Logg Cabin confirmed for Auckland.

The Trickle Down tour takes its name from Fat Freddy's recent hit single, itself both a buzzing aestival melody and an acerbic critique of neoliberal, 'trickle down,' economics (New Zealand exemplifies the perfidious nature of this system, with so many of our citizens living below the poverty line, whilst the 1 percent thrive in multimillion-dollar mansions). If summer has a sound, it is surely one that Fat Freddy's tunes, played live and loud in beautiful Aotearoa, approximate. Enjoy irresponsibly.
