Five Boroughs Pop-Up
The fast-food diner is popping up in Kingsland with triple-pattie cheeseburgers and southern fried chicken.
Overview
Before closing its doors for good, Wellington's Five Boroughs was a New York-style diner known for its bottomless coffee and decor lifted straight from a Woody Allen film. Last making an Auckland appearance as a late-night diner in Ponsonby — before owner Elie Assaf started as head chef at Williams Eatery — the burger joint is set to return for a two-night pop-up this July.
On Friday, 24 and Saturday, 25 July from 5pm until late, Five Boroughs will be serving up its American-influenced diner food at Kingsland's Atomic Coffee Roasters.
Be sure to set aside a cheat day — the menu holds no punches with the likes of triple-pattie cheeseburgers and southern fried chicken. New to the menu will be a special beef brisket burger with black garlic, caramelised onions, prosciutto, habanero mustard and gravy, while the much-loved 'Crack Fries' topped with cheese and gravy will be there for hardcore fans.
