Overview

When Fly My Pretties came together in 2004 the founding members would have been hard pressed to conceive how far their collaborative efforts would take them. Now in the fourth stage of its evolution, FMP has not only become a household name, but an extravaganza of music, light, story telling and art.

To celebrate the release of the fourth part of the story; Fly My Pretties IV, FMP collaborator and visual artist Flox (aka Hayley King) will be presenting an exhibition of the original works in both Auckland and Wellington this March.

Flox, who first came to work with FMP in 2011, was charged with creating dedicated artworks for each track in the show and found inspiration in the collective’s new songs. Following the success of the tour, Flox went on to extend the initial project to create original large-scale pieces that continue the narrative first explored in the initial project.

The exhibition which will feature framed one off stencil works on paper, multimedia, large handcut ‘virgin stencils’, light boxes, mixed media on board is being held at 155 K’Rd in Auckland.

“It’s going to be a fantastic opportunity for the FMP fans to come face to face with my artistic processes in large format, and like on tour, witness the artworks being brought to life in yet another dimension,” says Flox.

For the Fly My Pretties fans and those interested in being a part of the evolution of New Zealand music and art this is an opportunity not to be missed.

The exhibition runs at 155 K’Rd, AK from Tuesday 20 March – Saturday 24 March 10am-6:30pm.
