Food for Thought
Dinner for a higher cause.
Overview
Social initiative Food for Thought has been hosting charity dinners across the ditch since 2014, collaborating with emerging and esteemed hospitality pros to create exceptional dinners for a higher cause. The events have ranged from multi-course degustations to oversized cocktail parties, each raising close to $30,000 in the process.
This October the initiative will expand its fundraising campaign to include the first international event in Auckland. Joining Food for Thought's Mal Meiers to cook up a storm with Ora King Salmon will be Samir Allen (Gemmayze Street), Kyle Street (Culprit), Dariush Lolaiy (Cazador), Nick Honeyman (Paris Butter), Jessabel Granada (Nanam Republic) and Carlo Buenaventura (The Cult Project).
The dinner at St Kevins Arcade restaurant Gemmayze Street will help raise awareness of the crippling effects of anxiety and depression by encouraging conversation around the dining table to help break down the stigma surrounding mental health. In addition, it will help raise funds for Mental Health New Zealand with 100 percent of the profits going to support the charity.
