Aucklanders have the chance to come face to face with one of the twentieth century's most recognisable icons thanks to a stunning exhibition of Frida Kahlo and Diego Revieras's work on show at Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki.

Running from Saturday, October, 15 until Sunday, January 22 2023, Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera: Art and Life in Modern Mexico presents the work of the famous couple, as well as paintings and photography by leading artists in their circle. More than 150 artworks are on show, telling a story of love, life and art.

"From Frida's inward exploration of personal identity to Diego's outward interest in national character, learn why – despite very different artistic styles – the pair became two of Mexico's most celebrated and inspiring personalities," Auckland Art Gallery said in a statement.

Running from Saturday, October, 15 until Sunday, January 22 2023, adult passes are $24.50pp or free for gallery members. For more information, head to the gallery's website.
