Fun Run

Death by charity run.

Overview

Inspired by a news clip featuring a 'fat-Batman' looking miserable while participating in a charity running event, Fun Run is the latest piece of comedy to spring from the mind of 2015 Billy T Award winner, writer and actor Hamish Parkinson.

Silly Sausage, Fat Batman, Rubix Cube and Bumble Bee are the victims in this astute absurdist comedy. Costumed and confused, these four runners have no real grasp on why they are running, only that they each think it's for a charity event. Parkinson dissects the modern urge people have to ascribe meaning to everything they do and satires the humiliating occasions we put ourselves through, all in the name of a good cause - a theme that harks to the cringeworthy Red Nose Day episode of BBC's The Office.

Throwing a further spanner in the works, the characters are being picked off and killed on stage one by one, while the remaining runners are forced to continue on. In this comedic exploration of why we run and what for, who will make it to the finish line in a race where everything is at stake? The starring actors are each avid runners in their free time, and just as well - they'll jog an estimated 7km on the spot throughout the course of the performance.
