Golden Hour at Esther

Overview

There's nothing quite like the golden hues of the Mediterranean at sunset, but inner-city eatery Esther is attempting to create the next best thing with its new Golden Hour menu.  The restaurant is serving up a special evening pasta deal designed to make you feel like you're enjoying Euro summer as we enter the warmer months here in Aotearoa.

Running across two early evening sittings, 5.30pm or 6pm from Sunday to Wednesday and at lunchtime from 12-1pm Wednesday to Friday, you can welcome summer by celebrating la dolce vita style.

For your feast, you'll begin with puff bread and taramasalata, before being served the restaurant's pasta of the day — perhaps farfalle, tortellini or spaghetti — then finsih things off with a sweet apple tarte. If you're gluten-free, no worries — the kitchen team can whip a gluten-free pasta to your liking. If you really feel like embracing the summer vibes, add on a Te Mataku oyster or three at the start — they're only $6 each.

Pair your meal with a drop from Esther's extensive wine list and enjoy while its still light outside — that's summer in a nutshell.
