Overview
Streetwear retailers Good as Gold are stepping beyond the clothing racks of their Ponsonby store to throw a party, for no reason other than to show the people of Auckland a good (as gold) time. K’Rd’s newest club Neck of the Woods will set the scene for party starters Mac Major, Eastern Bloc and Katana to strut their stuff behind the cobweb blasting sound system.
By day, Mac Major can be found working at Serato Audio Research. By night he’s a key addition behind the decks for hip hop collective The Doqument as well as a host on BaseFM’s 'Radio Deep Freeze'. He also prides himself on his crowd reading ability and his vast knowledge of the DJ’ing artform.
Eastern Bloc is made up of Artur and DJ Marek. The pair bonded over a mutual love of music, vodka and their shared European heritage. Their internationally recognised remixes have earned them support slots for: Baauer, Flume, Rustie, Danny Brown, Mr Carmack, Lil B, ASAP Ferg, amongst plenty of others.
Hailing from Japan, Katana, has been amongst the DJ scene in New Zealand for over 10 years. His talent has seen him share bills with DJ Krush, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Sweater Beats, Skrillex, and Alison Wonderland, as well as contribute mix tapes for Huffer, IMF Mag and London’s 'Future Beats Show'.
