Overview

New Orleans-based folk-blues band, Hurray For The Riff Raff will make their New Zealand debut at the Great South Pacific Tuning Fork festival.

Led by Puerto Rican singer Alynda Lee Segarra, Hurray For The Riff Raff are darlings of the Americana scene. Their latest and fifth album Home Town Heroes was named as one of the best albums of 2014 by Rolling Stone, Spin and NPR, and also managed to pick them up a nomination for Emerging Americana Artist of the Year. They turn the tables on traditional folk and roots, while still arming themselves with the instruments that form the back bone of the genres - acoustic guitar, fiddle, harmonica, dobro, drum brushes and boot stomps.

The Great South Pacific Tuning Fork festival is a gathering of the best Americana artists from North America and New Zealand.

The band will be joined by Auckland artist Nadia Reid for the event.
