Overview

In a sign of the times, this Anzac weekend will see our fallen heroes up in lights, as rare footage from World War I is projected onto the north facade of the Auckland War Memorial Museum.

The free event will run for three nights between 6.30 and 10pm, and viewers are invited to bring a blanket and sit beneath the stars to watch newly discovered footage from the museum library collection.

Be there for the first ever conscription ballot in New Zealand, as well as field footage of our medical corps, and for the sports fans, Nga Taonga Sound and Vision has even resurrected imagery of the All Blacks playing France in 1918 (we won five points to three).

While New Zealand's efforts on the border of France and Belgium between 1916 and 1918 have gone down as some of our most bloody, the Auckland Domain will come alive with the spirit and hope of their efforts in one of the most interactive remembrance services the country has seen.

Lest we forget.
