Overview

Update: The Auckland season of Inside Dali has been extended until Sunday, July 3. The event listing has been updated to reflect this.

This year's new multimedia exhibition Inside Dali showcases the works of surrealist Spanish artist Salvador Dali, and it's set to delight art buffs and cultural novices alike.

The new opening comes from the same crew who brought you last year's ultra-successful Van Gogh Alive exhibition, which sold out during its run in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. This exhibition will once again give viewers the chance to step inside the genius mind of one of the world's most prolific artists.

The immersive multimedia art experience will open at Auckland's Spark Arena on Saturday, May 28 for a limited six-week run. You'll be able to experience a chronological trip through Dali's life through floor-to-ceiling high-resolution moving images, real-life objects and surround-sound interviews with the man himself.

Of particular highlight will be the Divine Comedy room, showcasing Dali's controversial commission of 100 colourful wood engravings illustrating Alighieri's Dante's Inferno, as well as a surreal 360-degree mirror room guaranteed to be a regular feature on your Instagram feed in the coming months.

Inside Dali will show at Auckland's Spark Arena from Saturday, May 28 until Sunday, July 3, before showing in Christchurch's Air Force Museum from Monday, July 11 until Friday, August 26. Tickets start at $44.90, with 'VIP Surrealist' tickets setting you back $84.90.
