International Pickle Week 2021
Pickle burgers, doughnuts and sandwiches, oh my!
Overview
Eateries across the country are getting into the spirit of things this Pickle Week, a time to celebrate making a hero out of something often considered a side dish.
For a whole week from Saturday, November 13 until Friday, November 19, pubs, restaurants and cafes in Auckland and Wellington will be whipping up limited-edition pickle-based delights, like burgers, sandwiches, and even sweet treats, in honour of International Pickle Day.
For Saturday only, Auckland doughnut store Doe Donuts is serving a pickle a pickle doughnut made with cream cheese, feta and dill filling, slices of pickles, and topped with a pickle juice dill glaze. Meanwhile fellow Auckland eateries Best Ugly Bagels, Bird on a Wire, Brother's Beer, Dedwood Deli, Hero Sandwich House, JoBros, Lowbrow, Peach's Hot Chicken, Whitestone Cheese Bar and Winner Winner are all offering pickle-stuffed takes on traditional menu favourites.
In Wellington, get your burger fix with a cheeseburger from Winner Winner, or add McClure's pickles to anything on the Dirty Burger menu. You can also grab pickle Mac & Cheese from Eva Beaver if you want to gorge on something truly indulgent.
More than 30 eateries across Aotearoa are set to participate in pickle week, run by US-based pickle company McClure's and local distributor Cook & Nelson.
