Overview

Thinking about celebrating that significant woman in your life but lacking ideas? Look no further than Ponsonby's Vodka Room. Renowned for its collection of more than 150 fine vodkas and a theatrical semi-open kitchen serving up modern Russian fare, the restaurant is hosting a sisterly celebration this March decked out with caviar and Champagne.

Bringing St. Petersburg to Ponsonby, the Vodka Room will offer Russian-inspired high tea for the first time. It will be available from March 8-10 in celebration of International Women's Day. Instead of your traditional high tea stand, pastries and parcels will be flowing to tables on little wooden boards.

Don't expect any of the usual; swap finger sandwiches and quiches for caviar and king crab, or some truffle and mushroom vol au vent. You'll also be spoiled when it comes to the sweets. Lemonade scones with seasonal fruit jam and cream are just the beginning. Make sure you save room for the ginger and honey sour cream mousse cake and dark chocolate salami with dried fruits and nuts. Finally, finish off the dining experience with some sea salt caramel Russian fudge that is bound to sweeten your day if not your weekend. The high tea is set between $50 to $65 per head depending on whether you would like to stick with coffee and tea, upgrade to prosecco or maybe treat yourself with some Beau Joie Champagne.

This is a fantastic opportunity to sip Champagne and taste an interesting range of morsels while singing your heart out in the Vodka Room's luxurious karaoke rooms. Email [email protected] or visit vodkaroom.co.nz to book your spot.
