Overview
In 2010, Kathryn Wilson garnered attention as the first footwear designer to hold a show at New Zealand Fashion Week, both an interesting concept and a refreshing contravene from the traditional apparel shows.
This year, in true Kathryn Wilson style, she will yet again be hosting a New Zealand Fashion Week first, in which she will be opening the doors to 3,000 guests to mark the final show of the week. Kimbra and recently announced, The Checks will also be performing as part of the show.
On Friday 2nd September 2011, the public will be front row at fashion week as Kathryn Wilson invites fashion fans and the shoe-obsessed to party at the launch of her winter 2012 collection at New Zealand Fashion Week.
Traditionally an industry only event, fashion week has in recent years shown small glimpses of its glamorous self to the public thanks to Fashion Weekend and now Wilson is bringing us another step closer, with what is set to the biggest show in New Zealand Fashion Week history.
Acknowledging the need to embrace the fashion savvy, Kathryn says "Our customers use style, sophistication and trends to determine their way forward. It's exciting to be putting on a show for fashion lovers!"
So what can you expect in return for your efforts of battling the masses? To cap off the evening there will be a special performance by Kimbra after the show who will be flying in from Australia to perform songs from her debut album, VOWS (out September 5) especially for Kathryn's event. Set to be one hell of a party, food and drink will also be available to purchase on the night via two cash bars thanks to Urban Gourmet Catering.
