Overview

Kele Okereke, the former lead singer and brains behind indie heavyweights Bloc Party is heading to New Zealand for the first time. The DJ/Producer is embarking on a seven-date Australasian tour in support of his second album Trick, with just one stop-off in Auckland next month.

Released late last year on his own label Lilac Records, Trick combines a blend of pulsing dance beats and smooth vocals, weaving between spacious guitar melodies and glittering synth lines. His live shows are energetic and challenging, with plenty of heart-thumping bass and dance-worthy tunes to go around.

Although Bloc Party embraced elements of electronica and house music, Kele’s first solo release in 2010 was nevertheless an unexpected transformation from his indie roots. Through his solo project, Kele has fostered a unique sound, establishing himself as a forerunner of the dance music scene.
