With all non-essential businesses in New Zealand set to close from midnight Wednesday, 25 March, local bars, restaurants and cafes are looking for ways to offload surplus produce and perishables.
Ramen Takara is offering up care packages for its customers. The noodle house, which is set to close for the foreseeable future, has approximately 200 do-it-yourself Kia Kaha Ramen Kits to giveaway from both of its Browns Bay and Ponsonby stores at 1pm. Each kit will contain Ramen Takara's homemade noodles, the soup base, a range of toppings and instructions to bring it all together.
The stores will minimise physical contact by handing the kits out at the door — they have asked customers to keep physical distancing in mind. The ramen kits are free, but the restaurant has asked for customers to pay it forward by supporting vulnerable neighbours.
