Kiwis On Board
Welcoming New Zealand's first settlement of 650 Syrian refugees.
Overview
This month, New Zealand welcomes our first settlement of 650 Syrian refugees. Set to start a new life in a new country, there is bound to be more than a few hurdles along the way. The NZ Red Cross are hugely involved in the resettlement of refugees and in an effort to promote refugee awareness, fundraise for the cause and give our new members to the community a friendly Kiwi welcome, the charity is throwing a concert in Silo Park.
Taking the stage to perform at Kiwis On Board is Neil Finn, The Topp Twins, Hopetoun Brown, Thomas Oliver and the Jubilation Choir. Silo Park is a favourite outdoor concert venue for its industrial-gone-green vibe, community spirit and plentiful spaces for blankets or a fold out chair. Kiwis on Board encourages concert go-ers to bring a cohort of family and friends, a picnic spread and your dancing shoes for an evening of excellent Kiwi entertainment for an excellent cause.
With fine weather expected, and the Silo Park Markets on from noon on Sunday, why not make a day of it on the waterfront? Kiwis on Board kicks off from 5pm, and audiences are asked to make a $20 koha donation towards the NZ Red Cross to be paid on the day or via the Give A Little page. Get in early to score a premium spot to spread out the picnic blanket.
