Overview

The nation's reigning king of melodic indie pop, Lawrence Arabia, will hit Avondale's Hollywood Cinema this April to celebrate his latest recording project.

The Singles Collection saw Arabia (real name: James Milne) release a digital single every month in 2018. For the Kickstarter-funded project he experimented with various styles and roped in several top notch collaborators, including Beach Boys associate Van Dyke Parks, Hollie Fullbrook (Tiny Ruins), Heather Mansfield (Brunettes), Ryan McPhun (Ruby Suns) and Liam Finn.

Initially billed as two shows, the Auckland date of The Singles Collection tour has been stripped back to one "More-Realistic-But-Still-Glorious" night of celebration at Hollywood Cinema on Saturday, 27 April.

The Lawrence Arabia band will take the stage to deliver "a sweet evening of immersive, multi-instrumental psychedelia, in a magnificent cinema, that crystallises all your paradoxical feelings about the state of the world today into a series of pithy Tony Robbins-esque maxims that will help you get through your forthcoming days with the absolute minimum of existential angst."

Opening the show are Motte, Being, and Hans Pucket as well as DJ sets from Sigrid.
