Overview

Civic Theatre is set to undergo a serious transformation to house Cirque de Soleil’s latest performance extravaganza Le Noir, The Dark Side of Cirque, as the show takes audiences closer than ever before with 360 degree seating.

Cirque de Soleil is contemporary circus at it’s most thrilling, with award winning athletes that captivate audiences with death defying pursuits including the ‘Columbian Wheel of Death’, a performance which holds the mantel of most dangerous circus act of all time, through to intriguingly titled segments such as ‘Chilli and Fly’ - the kind of aerial trickery for which Cirque de Soleil has become renowned.

Le Noir is billed as old world circus meets the burlesque of Broadway – the latter no doubt an integral part of the ‘dark side’ of theatre with seductive performances, costuming and daringly fast-paced routines, while the 360 degree seating is a throwback to the classic circus troupes and their marquee tents. The best seats in the house sit almost flush to the stage, inviting audiences to be part of the action instead of simply witnessing a spectacle on stage. For those who aren’t game on sitting so close, there is also seating in the lower stalls of The Civic.

With world-class production, specialty acts and comedians taking centre view, expect to be taken on a spell-binding journey through the world of cirque.
