Overview

If you're a fan of God's gift to vegetables, chips, boy do we have some news for you. Melbourne-born ethical fast food institution, and promoters of the best chips in the universe, Lord of the Fries, are en route to New Zealand to open their first store.

The much-loved Aussie chippery first hit the streets in 2004 as a food truck in Melbourne. The initiative was started by Mark and Mandy Koronczyk after the pair discovered a mutual love of fries and conscience to help build a better world by finding an alternative solution to the chemical and beef-tallow-laden fries swallowing the market.

Hence, the Lord's offerings sit atop a 100% vegetarian menu, using oil free of chemicals, preservatives and animal products. The chain now has ten stores across the ditch, with plans to expand to Queensland and Asia in the not-too-distant future. The Auckland branch at 1 Queen Street will be Lord of the Fries' first international store.

To mark the launch on Thursday 27 October the store will serve free classic fries for one hour. In addition, a lucky 250 people will receive bottomless chip cups for free refills.
