Maala
The enigmatic Kiwi singer celebrates his new release.
Overview
Appearing on the scene with a self-titled EP last year, enigmatic Kiwi singer Maala (Evan Sinton) has finally released his first studio album, Composure. The album release show will be at the Studio on August 12 from 9pm.
Only 20 years of age, the singer's brooding lyrics paired with slick electronic production mimics the style of fellow local favourites Lorde and Broods. His sound is tasteful with emotional depth as he proves himself to be yet another talented musician from our humble little country. A third placing on New Zealand's Got Talent landed Sinton his first record deal, signing with Sony while still finishing up his schooling. An evolution to the mysterious Maala soon followed and his debut single 'In The Air' received backing from Zane Lowe featured on Apple Music Beats One.
His Wellington and Auckland shows come off the back of opening for Flume in New York and London. This will be a great gig to catch before the young singer becomes the next big thing.
