Overview

Who knew doing your bit for charity could be so funny? Well, at Mad Dogs and an Englishman it is. Auckland Puppy Rescue has joined forces with dog behaviour expert and comedian Tony Knight to bring Auckland audiences a comedy show about man's best friend.

Knight has been touring his stand-up comedy internationally, selling out shows at major comedy events including the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Melbourne's Comedy Festival, with a quick stop in Aotearoa to support Kiwi dogs on Sunday, February 11.

In what might be a comedy first, Knight makes teaching your dog to behave funny, leaving his audience with belly laughs and practical tips shared between jokes. All of the proceeds from this event will go towards Auckland Puppy Rescue's ongoing purpose of rescuing puppies and placing them with the families they deserve.

The organisation takes puppies aged between newborn up until they are one year old — some of the most vulnerable months in a dog's life. Once Auckland Puppy Rescue has a dog in its ranks, it is set up with a foster family, vaccinations, food and other supplies, while it waits to be adopted.

All of the organisation's puppies will be desexed, microchipped and registered before going to forever homes. This work could not be done without events like Knight's comedy show and the work of the charity's incredible volunteers.
