Overview

The time has come to once again gather and celebrate Matariki, the Māori New Year. 2017 will be Silo Park's fifth year celebrating the festival at the waterfront.

Angus Muir Design will be presenting a stunning light installation to set the mood for the evening, and Puna Kai will be serving delicious international street food with a Maori twist to warm your soul against the winter climate. The celebrations will kick off on Friday with a live performance from SoccerPractise in the silos, and the party will run through until 5pm Sunday where a variety of performances will round-off the weekend-long event.

Midday Saturday will be the opening of the fantastic Mighty Matariki Markets, featuring a great range of local crafts, clothing, art and of course, street food. It's not a party without some decent kai. Chill out after a busy day perusing the goods for sale with the Māori HiFi DJs. If there's a reason to celebrate our national culture and have a party, we'll be there and we hope to see you too.
