Matariki on the Waterfront 2019

Overview

Silo Park is the place to be this July with three days of Matariki celebrations and festivities. Matariki on the Waterfront is part of Auckland's new Elemental Auckland winter festival and is created to warm your body and soul this winter and bring communities together.

From 5–7 July, Auckland waterfront will be bustling with live entertainment, activities and lots of satisfying winter kai. 

Across the three-day Māori New Year celebration, a range of workshops and performances are being hosted for you to enjoy. Learn about the stars and stargazing with the Auckland Astronomical Society or marvel at a magical illuminated InMotion parade on Saturday evening.

Some of Auckland's best food trucks will be onsite, each incorporating traditional Māori ingredients and cooking techniques into their menus — enjoy a classic hāngi with fried bread or even a kumara, coconut and ginger gelato.

Matariki on the Waterfront is an inclusive and entertaining event, admission is free and all ages, backgrounds and cultures are welcome.
