Overview
You can now kick your heels up as the sun comes up. Auckland has been introduced to the world of dawn dance parties. All the rave in cities like New York and London, these sunrise boogie-fests have been started up here by a group aptly-named Morning People.
Every second Wednesday at the unfathomable-for-some hour of 6.30am, you'll find them bringing Grafton Cricket Club alive. Legwarmers are optional but freestyle merriment is compulsory. These daybreak shindigs last an hour-and-a-half, but partygoers are free to float in or out as desired.
All Morning People dance parties are drug and alcohol free. Entry is ten dollars cash, with plans for Eftpos in the pipeline. Ooooby provide free organic fruit, DJs provide the tunes and the endorphins will provide you with a kick-start to the day to rival a good flat white.
