Overview

There are a lot of reasons to love Morningside — great cafes, an excellent pub and a very handy train station being just a few of them. And come February, the central suburb is levelling up even further.

Morningside Block Party is a brand new street party set to shut down the suburb for one day only. On the roster come Sunday, February 5 — an epic lineup of local legends of the music, comedy, food and drink varieties.

Headlining things is, of course, Fat Freddy's Drop for their only Auckland show this summer (and filling the void of the devastating Summer Haze cancellation). Also providing tunes on the mainstage will be 2022 APRA Maioha Award finalist AJA, Rubi Du, Team Dynamite's Lucky Lance with Christoph El Treuento. Or head the Big Fan Hot Box inside the brand-new Joel Little-owned music venue Big Fan, which is set to be a non-stop party space featuring local DJs.

If you need some giggles to beat the Sunday scaries, there's also a freshly added comedy stage— which you'll find in the carpark under Carpet Court, of all places. The Spinoff Carpet Club will play host to live versions of The Spinoff podcasts Gone by Lunchtime and The Real Pod as well as live comedy from Chris Parker, Janaye Henry, Guy Montgomery and Courtney Dawson.

To keep you fuelled there will be food and drink options throughout the party, as well from the teams at Morningside Tavern, Crave and Kind. And whatever you do, don't miss the Good Vibes Zone in the stunning Glasshouse. We're not entirely sure what that involves, but it sure sounds fun.

The first two ticket releases for this epic outdoor streetwide party have sold out but you can jump in to grab the current release — it'll set you back $89.90 per person (plus booking fee).
