Overview

Coming to Auckland's CBD this March is a festival that shares some of the tastes, sights and sounds of one of the world's most interesting countries: Nepal. The New Zealand Nepal Society is putting together the country's biggest outdoor festival celebrating all things Nepalese. At the all-day event, which runs from midday until 8pm, you'll have the chance to try Nepalese food and witness the art and culture of this nation.

Dance and musical performances come from both local Nepalese and Kiwi acts, including much-loved instrumental band Kutumba. There will also be stalls for a wide variety of Nepalese food cooked by those who know the cuisine, including savoury and sweet options as well as drinks — expect plenty of rice and curried vegetables alongside the national dish of lentil dahl, meat-filled dumplings, hot noodle soup, and a cross between a doughnut and a bagel.

And this festival wouldn't be complete with a few stalls dedicated to information about the country, including the heritage of culture and arts, as well as tips and tricks for any potential trips to the country.
