Overview

Perhaps one of the fastest growing liquor trends of late, whisky culture, has taken New Zealand by storm, culminating in New Zealand's first dedicated three-day event in more than ten years.

Kicking off the festivities on Friday, May 12, the Crystal Ballroom at Eight Restaurant in the Langham Hotel promises to come alive as the perfect blend of drams and distillers are served up with a four-course whisky-inspired menu, hosted at tables with your very own whisky-master from Glenrothes, Kavalan, BenRiach, Tomatin and more.

Run by whisky-lover San Snead, owner of the House of Whiskey, which boasts New Zealand's largest selection of Scottish single malt whiskey, two shows on Saturday, May 13 and masterclasses on Sunday, May 14 promise to enlighten willing attendees in the complex, and prestigious art of consumption. And because we know enjoyment is as much about the company as it is the product, the event promises to deliver an exceptional, rare opportunity to learn from some of the most passionate whisky-minds, doubtlessly adding a new layer of appreciation for all those in attendance.

Hot tip for the rookies, while you're in the presence of purists, there's no right or wrong way to enjoy the drink…just stick clear of the cola.
