Overview

Each year, Auckland plays host to a vast array of domestic and international humourists with the staging of the NZ International Comedy Festival. Kicking off this year’s festival is the annual Old Mout Cider Comedy Gala hosted by Jason Byrne.

One of the great advantages of heading to the Gala is that you don't have to risk your entire evening on one unknown act. You're hedging your bets with a range of comics there to get you chortling. Featuring guys like American raconteur, Reginald D. Hunter with his uniquely farcical observational anecdotes, and the mild British dead-pan humour of James Acaster, all you need to do is throw in Frenchman, Marcel Lucont and you've got a smorgasbord of comedic styles.

It's worth getting along to The Civic if you want your comedy fix and to sample the appetizer portions that you might want second helpings to later in the Festival.

The 2014 NZ International Comedy Festival in cahoots with Old Mout Cider runs from 24 April - 18 May.
