Waffles — need we say more? Just the thought of the doughy iron-pressed delights send our tastebuds into a spasm.

Whether it's the straight and narrow accompaniment of syrup you're after or lashings of cheese — the mouth watering food can conquer anything. Paying tribute to the classic grid motif, every Wednesday throughout August, Orleans is hosting a waffle special for you to wrap your tastebuds around.

Kicking off Waffle Wednesdays will be the traditional combo of bacon and cheese, with the former soaked in glorious maple syrup. The best of both worlds in one dish. Week two is bananas, literally it is. The dessert waffle is to die for with servings of banana, vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce topped with salted caramel peanuts and popcorn. And just when you thought it couldn't get any better, the crispy pork belly waffles appear. By far the star of the show is the rocky road waffle piled with toasted marshmallows, strawberry syrup, biscuit crumb, coconut and chocolate chips.

Is your mouth watering yet? If not, then the end of the month will be a real treat as Orleans celebrates USA Waffle Day on Thursday 24 August where diners will be able to get all four of waffle dishes for only $10.
