Overview

Rooftop bar La Zeppa will tip its hat to the land of the free with the two-day Orleans & Oysters Southern BBQ Feastival next month. But just what does an central Auckland celebration of the United States involve?

A lineup of food vendors will be cooking up delights from the southern states, including low 'n' slow barbecue, oversized pretzels from Poppa's Pretzels and freshly shucked bivalves from Clevedon Oysters. The La Zeppa kitchen will back that up with a special 'Murican menu for the weekend. Expect: sticky pork ribs, fried pickles, loaded fries and an inventive creation that has something to do with fried chicken stuffed into a waffle cone.

The bar will also be rocking drink specials like $25 Corona buckets and $6.50 wines, and Mama's Brew will be providing kombucha cocktails while you play American bar games on the deck. For those wondering if they'll ever make it state-side...look no further than the on-site tarot card reader.

The entertainment will be provided by 11-piece afrofunk band Ijebu Pleasure Club across both days, joining saxophonist Matt Bizzle and DJs Hamish Crocker and Jay Bulletproof.
