After a successful debut last year, the Pacific Dance Festival returns, taking over Mangere Arts Centre for ten days of contemporary Pacific dance, song and culture.

This year's festival is set to showcase some of the country's most exciting contemporary Pacific dance choreographers. Kicking off the first week of the festival is Wahine Toa, a collection of four works by female choreographers which celebrates the strength and diversity of Pasifika women.

You can also look forward to the debut performance of Nu'u by street dance champions Freshman's Crew. Merging together Pacific, Maori, urban and contemporary dance styles, the piece shares the experiences of three different characters who have grown up in New Zealand.

Don't miss Aumaga by Le Moana, the powerful work will transport you to Samoa as it explores the spaces inhabited by the 'untitled' men of Samoan villages, their day-to-day activities, and their service to family and culture.

The festival will not only showcase the diversity of Pacific dance but also different cultures. You will witness some incredible dance moves but also some amazing costumes. Put on your dancing shoes and experience the wonders of the Pacific Islands.
