Overview

Come celebrate the Kiwi Christmas as it was created by the first settlers, longing for the snow and fires they had left back home.

A Partridge in a Pear Tree invites the audience to come along dressed up in Victorian garb to celebrate alongside the cast - there will be supper provided after the play and a chance to mingle with the cast.

But yes, the play itself - actor George Henare will open the evening with harpist/singer Cathie Harrop and pianist Paul Harrop to tell the story of the first New Zealand Christmas. The settlers worked hard to create a celebration as close to the one they remembered from home – sometimes with hilarious and occasionally disastrous results.

Dave Khan with his mandolin and fiddle and cellist Jennie Khan complete the cast who celebrate a time when Christmas was celebrated with dances and parties and concerts and wonderful meals.

Romantically set in the historic Alberton, guests are welcome to peruse the old mansion and enjoy a festive bevvy before the show.
