Overview

Renowned Auckland artist Rebecca Wallis is excited to present her latest body of work, Personal Reaction Time.

Based in the creative hub of Rhubarb Lane, the main interest and visual content of Rebecca's exhibition lies in ideas of becoming and between spaces.

Her inspiration happens on the most ordinary of days when her path is crossed with a shocking sight, that of a lifeless being, a tragic sight of the "no more".

The exhibition's story unfolds around ideas of  the uncertain, hopelessness and the fragility of life in remembrance of a friend whose life was taken.

These found lifeless beings are metaphors, evoking the shocking suddenness of her own realisations of time passed; the uncertainty of the experience of loss and the uncertainty about what is to happen next.

The visceral, melancholy and uncanny play a significant part in Rebecca's exhibition, promising to be a dazzling show of thought-provoking art running over two weekends.
