Pitchblack Playback is an audio experience where you can hear upcoming and classic album releases in full, on a great sound system and in the dark.

The series was born in London to create a totally immersive music listening experience without distractions. After attracting audiophiles and casual music lovers in New York, Berlin, Paris and Tokyo, the event is coming to Auckland's The Capitol Cinema. For the first event at the historic Dominion Road cinema, Pitchblack Playback will present Tame Impala's 2020 opus The Slow Rush.

The 12-track album is the fourth full-length release from the psychedelic rock group. It will be played from start to finish at the pitch black album listening session, beginning with moody space pop opener 'One More Year' and then winding through singles 'Borderline', 'Posthumous Forgiveness' and 'Lost in Yesterday'.

Tickets to the event include a free Pitchblack Playback blindfold to ensure listeners avoid all distractions.
