Pokey LaFarge

Overview

Pokey LaFarge is this eclectic mix of all-American sounds. He is country meets bluegrass meets jazz meets ragtime meets western swing that somehow manages to avoid sounding retro, and instead has a timeless quality.

Born Andrew Heissler, but trading the all too ordinary name in for the much more fitting Pokey LaFarge, which is now not only his personal name, but the name used by the 5 piece band that accompany him on tour. The talented quintet includes Joey Glynn (bass), Adam Hoskins (Guitar), Ryan Koenig (harmonica, washboard and snare drum), TJ Muller (cornet and trombone) and Chloe Feoranzo (clarinet and sax). They sort of cover all the instrument bases.

Returning after a successful NZ tour in 2014, as well as some knock out performances at WOMAD LaFarge is set to take on the Tuning Fork this March with his latest album and his full band.
