Overview

The Tempest is one of Shakespeare's comedic-dramas, considered to be one of his greatest works as well as the last play he wrote alone. The short and sweet stage show uses concepts including magic and fantasy to explore multiple story lines.

With no overwhelming plot, the story is broken up with the different relationships between the characters. Hatred between siblings, romantic love, and father and child relationships are all used to convey the different temperaments in human nature. With a jealous, outcasted magician who was once destined to be the Duke of Milan calling the shots, he creates a storm that ultimately brings all the characters together for this melodramatic Georgian comedy. Pinning brother on brother, kindling a romance on a deserted island with the magician's daughter, and ending the play by breaking the fifth wall, The Tempest is play fit for a primetime soap-opera spot in the US of A. Don't let that discredit you, the humerous, semi-magical production won't disappoint on the entertainment front.

This production is directed by Benjaman Henson, an acclaimed director from London who now settles on our humble shores. Lisa Harrow, an actress noted for her roles in the British theatre is also playing part in this production, cast aptly as protagonist sorcerer Prospero. With commendable cast and director, this show is surely no amateur hour and well worth a watch.
