Overview

Popped Culture is a unique event series hosted by Coffee Supreme. Each pop-up event is an invitation to savour a bespoke breakfast experience provided by Auckland’s up and coming chefs, bakers and hospo personalities. The idea is to take one’s morning routine of coffee and toast and elevate it to a happening, shared with likeminded individuals in inspiring locations. Coffee Supreme finds a space with a view and provides a freshly brewed cup of joe, Arkade move in with their tables and chairs and then it’s just down to the menu.

Popped Culture #2 tasks Welcome Eatery to concoct scrumptious toppings to be served on The Midnight Baker’s Freedom Loaf – an activated, alternative bread that is fast gaining cult status across Auckland. The Grafton-based café does a great version of huevos rancheros, dubbed 'Divorced Eggs' and their menu boasts lashings of ‘rawtella’ and lemon curd. It’s safe to say we’re in capable hands whatever the toppings may be. Yeshe’s Freedom Loaves are made at Welcome Eatery’s bakery, so it’s a natural partnership for the second edition of this event series. The loaves are packed with nuts, grains and seeds for a moreish texture and come in natural, herbed or cinnamon & honey varieties.

An early-bird special, Popped Culture #2 will be hosted from 7am until 9.30am, Thursday through Saturday at IMO Group, 30 Kenwyn Street in Parnell. $16 includes coffee and two slices of loaded toast. Kids tickets are available for the Saturday sitting and there are vegetarian option available.
