Overview

As the perfect lead up to Christmas and the holiday season, hypnotic rock 'n' roll band Racing will squeeze onto the tiny stage at Ponsonby's George Bar.

The four-piece rose from the ashes of prominent shore-core band The Checks, including egnimatic frontman Ed Knowles and accomplished shred-master Sven Pettersen. Other members Daniel Barrett and Izaak Houston come from well-received local acts Sherpa and Space Creeps.

Since the band's inception this year they have taken their punishing live show on two laps of the country and released a self-titled EP to critical acclaim. The five-track offering of groove-based rock was recorded at The Lab with Jol Mulholland and has been described as "otherworldly and mind-bending".

Attendees of the free yuletide show can expect an intimate, no-holds barred performance.
