Rail Land 2019
This touring gig takes audience members into the world of public and chartered trains.
Overview
After a positive response to last year's show, Anthonie Tonnon's Rail Land show is back as a national tour this December.
Celebrating passenger rail in New Zealand, this all new show takes audience members into the world of public and chartered trains, mixing songs with weaving narratives and custom-made music. Anthonie describes the show as a theatrical version of his live set.
A lover of this long-used mode of public transport, Anthonie calls railways "miraculous, poetic and mysterious". His songs share this point of view, offering glimpses into the past and future, surprising connections and some of many stories dotted along the tracks.
From poetic to practical, this is a unique event that goes beyond being purely musical. In fact, part of the experience is to take the train from Britomart to Papatoetoe Station from where you'll walk to Papatoetoe Town Hall to hear Anthonie's melodies. It pays to arrive ten minutes early so you're sure to claim your seat.
