Overview

Drift drivers from New Zealand, Japan, USA and Sweden will have their work cut out for them on the course at Red Bull Drift Shifters this weekend in Auckland.

Virtual 3D images of the course layout for Red Bull Drift Shifters have been released, and the images give a good idea of how the course will look like at the event. Proximity sensors have been attached to the pin ball styled obstacle course and has been tested with huge success.

The proximity sensors measure how fast and close the drivers are to each of the obstacles. And like a pin ball machine; the closer they get, the more points they get. Points will be tallied instantly and displayed on a big screen so the crowd can see their final score as they freestyle round the course.

Each of the 12 drivers will enter one at a time against the clock through the course, with the best precision drift car driver being rewarded.

This free event will have all sorts of petrol heads and novice car fans coming together in the name of drifting appreciation. Head down early to Victoria Street West on Saturday, December 8 to get a good posie, and enjoy the action.
