Overview

Now in its seventh year, the Red Bull Thre3style series seeks out the world's best turntable talent in an international 'battle of the bands' style competition that spans nineteen countries. Seven Kiwi DJs have answered the call for the New Zealand leg - Auckland's DJ Scizzorhands, DJ Jordan Lee, DJ Manchoo as well as Wellington's DJ Nodz and DJ Gooda, Hamilton's DJ Spell and Christchurch's DJ Ruse. Between the bunch, they've supported some of the world's hottest hip hop, rap and electronic artists, from the likes of Mos Def, Ghostface Killah, Action Bronson, DJ CXL, Chali 2na, Krafty Kuts, Andy C and State of Mind.

Thre3style works like this: Limited to two turntables, one mixer, two dicers and a maximum of two external midi devices, each DJ is given 15 minutes to impress both crowd and judges with a set scored on originality, skills, track selection, personality and crowd response. The only constraint – DJs must mix at least three genres of music in their set. The champ on the night will go on the the World Championship Finals in the Chilean capital of Santiago, to compete against the top talent from 18 other countries.

Head down for a night of epic talent sure to get the tail feather shaking at Neck of the Woods. Pre-sale tickets $10 or $12 on the door.
