Overview

Transport yourself to Brazil – known universally for its beautiful people, jungle, beaches, caipirinhas and samba. But with the diverse range of films on offer during the third Reel Brazil Film Festival you can go beyond these cultural stereotypes and find out how much more this unique country has to offer.

Films range from black comedy Reflections of a Blender, featuring a talking blender and possible murder accomplice to music documentary A Night in 67, which gives you an insight into the history of the Tropicália music movement. For anyone not shy of reading a subtitle or two, there really is something to captivate everyone here.

All but one of the films will be Australasian premieres and four of them, Our Home: Astral City, Smokescreen, Dzi Croquettes, and VIP's are on current release in Brazil. Whether you know it well or would like to learn more about this fascinating culture, be sure not to miss out on the Reel Brazil Film Festival.

The Reel Brazil Film Festival runs from October 27 to November 2 at the Rialto Cinema in Newmarket. Tickets cost $16.50 for adults, $14.50 for students, and $35 for the corporate opening night, which includes live music, drinks and nibbles.
