Overview

Robert George is a filmmaker with a love of surrealist cinema. His new commissioned experimental film is a five-screen video installation that explores the psychological and emotional impact of a loss that has yet to occur. He described the film project as a challenging, but important process that helps him to explore his own personal experiences of dealing with losing someone very close to him.

A new direction in film format for the artist, the five channels represent multiple perspectives of the same events unfolding simultaneously.

A respected artist, George's A memoir for falling light exceeded its target funding in a Boosted Campaign. George's Cook Island Māori and New Zealand Māori heritage are a major influence on his art practice, as is light and death, explored through symbolism.
