Overview
It's not everyday you get the chance to experience the murderous and bloody Titus one night and the sad romance of Romeo and Juliet the next.
Unitec's third-year acting students have been divided into a company of men and a company of women. Each has a director and the task of performing their assigned Shakespearean play in 80 minutes. To the men goes the task of performing Titus set in the city of Rome with its murderous cats and to the women, Romeo and Juliet, which takes place in Verona with its ill-fated lovers. With cross gender casting and an edited text the quest for these aspiring actors is for essence and transcendence.
Romeo & Juliet will be performed: 1, 4, 6 and 8 June at 7pm.
Titus: 2, 5, 7 and 9 June at 7pm.
