Royal G Degustation

Overview

Mission Bay's Royal G is set to host its first degustation evening on Monday, 15 July. The eatery led by Javier Carmona and David Saavedra follows the tongue and cheek tagline "Not your Mum's Indian," by taking ordinary, household comfort foods and re-inventing them with a playful street food-style twist.

Attendees at the degustation can expect six courses with matching drinks created by Ali from cocktail bars Deadshot and Caretaker. The evening promises to be an edgy and thoughtful look at Indian food. Tickets are $60 and $50 additional for the drink pairing. Email info@royalg.nz to book.

While looking to launch a second, even bigger venue, Royal G will be hitting the streets in Ponsonby. Every Friday and Saturday in July, the team will pop up in a food truck to serve its popular Chit Chaat in a Bag — pre-packaged chaat snack, green chutney, Maharajan beef, puffed rice and peanuts — among other street food delights.
