Overview
The great Carlos Santana needs little introduction, with New Zealand being blessed with his return, and American rockers The Steve Miller Band playing support.
Ten-time Grammy winner Santana is an admirer of Aotearoa's "pristine" landscape, as the guitar maestro pointed out during his last visit two years ago. Having sold more than 90 million records worldwide, and having played to more than 100 million fans, he is justifiably enshrined in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Support act The Steve Miller Band are the second half of this massive double bill, and would most likely make the stage their own had it not been for the presence of a gentleman named Carlos. This group have a career spanning more than four decades, renowned for a string of mid-1970s hit singles that are staples of the classic rock radio format such as possibly their most successful track, The Joker.
