Overview
Auckland CBD's Academy Cinemas sure loves its back-to-back movie marathons. After presenting all five films from supernatural light-erotica saga Twilight on the big screen, the cinema is heading into slightly darker territory by bringing back seven titles from 2000s torture horror series, Saw. And the best bet: it's a one-off overnight marathon event.
Round up your bravest friends, dig out your sleeping bag and prepare to be scared senseless as you try to last through all seven films and piece together the diabolical plans of John Kramer, the Jigsaw Killer, throughout the night. The marathon kicks off at 6pm with the original 2004 Saw flick, when two strangers wake up in a room with no recollection of how they got there. From there, the sadistic violence continues through Saw II, Saw III, Saw IV, Saw V, Saw VI, Saw VII.
There will be a 15-minute intermission to between films to give you a breather. The 11-hour marathon arrives just in time for horror fans to catch the franchise's ninth instalment Spiral: From the Book of Saw, starring Chris Rock and Samuel L Jackson.
