Overview

Having only ever performed before surging festival crowds, mysterious London producer SBTRKT will finally perform a solo headline show in New Zealand. The musician (aka Aaron Jerome) is known for his unique approach to electronica, as well as adorning tribal masks to remain anonymous and to let the music do the talking.

His forthcoming appearance at Auckland’s St James Theatre comes off the back of releasing his second studio album Wonder Where We Land. In true SBTRKT style, the album aims to move beyond the usual trends of electronic music. In order to capture the off-kilter vibe, SBTRKT found solace on an island only accessible when the tide is out. To give you an idea of the left-field production techniques, one of the tracks was composed in total darkness, alongside the flicker of cult animated films. Not a complete hermit, he also spread his talents to Los Angeles and New York, roping in a roster of collaborators including: Sampha, Jessie Ware, Ezra Koenig of Vampire Weekend, and A$AP Ferg.

Arriving on the heels of extensive tours throughout US and Europe, expect to witness a polished performance and some top notch visuals.
