Overview
This documentary brings to life the short yet flamboyant career of Ayrton Senna. Director Asif Kapadia (Far North, The Warrior) has been credited with weaving together an astonishing amount of archive footage of the Brazilian superstar, whose life was cut tragically short at the age of 34.
Senna is a fascinating subject, depicted in confronting scenes with arch rival Alain Prost, and his continuing clashes with politics within the racing industry made him a figure of much interest. But there are also scenes of laughter and joy, and the driver's many successes, which will bring you closer to one of the world's endearing sporting legends.
Make sure you drive to the cinema, because you will want to take the long way home upon your return. One of CP's picks of the NZ Film Festival.
Thursday night's show is sold out, however their are still tickets remaining for Sunday's performance at the beautiful Civic Theatre.
